Another Year !

 Meeting Thursday 18th.

September – again – and another year for Loddon Quilters. Our research shows that 23 of our

original members, from 2007, are still members! Thanks for staying with us.

This month is our A.G.M., a necessary, but informal affair. It is an opportunity for us to review

the year and let you know what we have planned for the coming year. Do let us know if you want

any topic covered, however small – put a note in the Suggestions box – we do look at it.

Subscriptions are due this month and we are holding them at £18 for the year. Jacky will be

collecting them and we will give out receipts, membership cards, etc. in the afternoon.

The Quilt - There is only one block to go – the long block at the top of the quilt,

approximately 46” x 9” finished size. It is important that you measure up on your quilt for the

exact width, it may be more or less than 46”. If you want to make it more than 9” high that is

your choice. This block doesn’t have to go at the top, it could go in the middle or at the bottom.

The technique is also up to you, we called it the landscape block as a suggestion. We hope to

have several ideas for you to see at the meeting.

We would like to see your stained glass blocks from last month at Show and Tell, always an

inspiration.

The rest of the year will be for catching up, layering up and quilting. We are looking forward to

an amazing collection of quilts.

In October we shall be having a Bring and Buy sale, so look out all those bits you want to sell –

one quilter’s unwanted is just what someone else is looking for!

Do let us know of any shows in the area, interesting shops you have visited or web sites you have

found so that we can pass on the information to others.

Pinterest http://www.pinterest.com/ is an interesting site for inspiration or just browsing.

You have to sign in and then you can search for what you are interested in e.g. log cabin quilts,

trapunto, art quilts, apple pies, owls – anything you like! It will find ‘boards’ that people have

made with collections of pictures from all over the place. You can set up your own boards

and ‘pin’ any items you like, so you have your own collection, or you can just browse, it is fun

and a great source of inspiration – or a time waster, depending on how you look at it!!
