We had a good meeting in July with an excellent show and tell. So many quilts and projects are being finished, but remember, your Olympic blocks don't have to be made into a full size quilt as Jane's wall hanging showed. Let's finish our fifth year with a bumper show and tell, we know how much good work there is out there and it is encouraging and inspiring to see what others are doing. Remember we all had to start somewhere and enjoying the learning experience is what we are about, so don't be shy show us what you are doing. In July we put up a table in the centre of the hall to show your tombola projects – and what an array we have now. It was an inspiration to all – keep up the good work. Joan made a display of lacemaking a favourite craft of her late mother. We were all intrigued and marvelled at the fine work. It also revealed there are lace makers amongst us – so many people with hidden talents. Congratulations to Dusty, Joyce and Bramley W.I. for all the prizes they won at the W. I. Show in the New Forest. Dusty won a double silver for her quilted landscape, we hope to see it at our meeting this month. We will be collecting subscriptions in September – where did the year go?! We are holding the subscription at £16, despite whispers that hall fees will rise. - we hope you will agree that it is a bargain! This is your group and we want you to feel involved so if you have any suggestions for our next year's programme please let us know. We will put out a suggestions box at the meeting and you can 'post' your ideas – it's up to you whether you want to add your name! We will consider all suggestions at the next committee meeting. Polyester wadding – if you have any spare pieces, however small, we can use them, so please bring them along to the meeting.
