July 2017 Newsletter

       Meeting Thursday 20th. July 2017

Last month we had a cream tea to celebrate our latest Loddon Quilters show, which raised £1530 for charity. We gave £750 to RNLI and £750 to the Hants and IOW air ambulance. Letters of thanks are on the noticeboard. We gave the remaining £30 to the Happy Faces playgroup, who enjoyed bringing groups of children round the show, they were delighted to have our donation.

Loddon Quilters made a donation to the British Heart Foundation in memory of Corinne Winter, who sadly died last month. Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this sad time.

This month we will be having a ‘pure sewing’ meeting so we can all catch up on all those UFOs we have been meaning to finish. Get up to date so that you will be ready to start our next quilt challenge – details in September!

We shall be having our Bring and Buy sale again in September, so start looking out those bits you don’t want – someone else could be looking for them!

Did you go to Sandown in June to the National Championships Quilt exhibition? If so you would have seen that 2 of our members entered quilts and won prizes.

Sue Gibbons entered her Dear Jane and won a Judges Merit rosette and Dot Darrell entered her Sylvia’s Bridal Sampler and won first place in the Sampler Quilt Category.

Congratulations to both of them. We hope to see their quilts at Show and Tell.
