June 2012

Jolly June Jubilee Workshop Day
June is Jubilee month and we are having a very special meeting. There will be no
charge for refreshments this month and if anyone would like to bring cakes, there will
be a table near the kitchen.

Our table arrangements will be different this month as we would like everyone to work on
projects for the show. In May everyone was given an envelope with a piece of fabric – with a
novelty sewing print - to use to make something for the Show. If you weren't at the meeting there
are still envelopes to be collected.

There will be the scrap boxes of fabric, wadding and calico available to use. Please bring your
hand sewing kit and any pieces of fabric you can spare. (No sewing machines, please) If you
have any scraps of polyester wadding (you know, all those bits you don't like to throw away!)
please bring them as they can be used for stuffing.

Don't worry about what to make – there will be plenty of ideas displayed, instructions and
workshops during the day (we will do repeats in the afternoon). You may want to try out a new
technique or practise a forgotten one. Any new/in good condition unwanted tea-towels could be
brought in and used for an exciting bag project.
If you have ideas you could share with others please let Pris or Barbara know when you arrive
and we can make sure you have an opportunity to share your ideas.

We want this to be a friendly, fun day when we can all learn from each other and make
something for the Show - so come and enjoy!

Please remember that the hall doors open at 11.30a.m. and members are not allowed in
before then – there is now a coffee shop in the village, at the post office, if you are too early.
We welcomed some new members in May. We hope to be able to give new members a badge

on which they can write their name and wear to meetings. If anyone has time to make a badge
– about 3”x 2”, with a space for a name – it would be useful to build up a supply ready for new
members, please give them to Pris.
It is helpful if you can wear your badge – ladies, and gentlemen, of a certain age can't always
put a name to a face!
