March 2016 Newsletter Meeting Thursday 17th. March 2016
Sunflower quilt Last month Helena Maskell, from St. Michael’s Hospice, came to collect the sunflower quilt. She was delighted with it and will use it at their Sunflower Fete on Sunday 5th. June. The fete is held in the grounds of St. Michael’s Hospice and opens at 12 o’clock, if you would like to go along.
Many members have signed up for machine quilting. We shall be arranging small groups for demonstrations starting in April.
Thank you to Jenny H. for her demonstrations of disappearing pinwheels, it was intriguing and lots of members decided to have a go. If you want to make up a block and then donate it we will make up the blocks into another Linus quilt. There is no hurry for the blocks, bring them along over the next 3 months.
This month we have a hand sewing project for you to join in. Frances will be showing us how to make glitzy glasses, scissors or needle cases – do-able at the meeting. You will need a piece of felt about 8”x6” (we will have some felt available) and a sewing needle suitable for embroidery thread. The glitzy bits will be provided by Frances. It should be fun!
Sue Ryder Sale Dear Loddon Quilters, thank you for your support during our February meeting when I was selling the fabric of a dear departed friend in aid of Sue Ryder. Your generous purchases raised £320.50 for this worthy charity, which was so much more than I could have hoped for. Thank you. Rachel Gormley
