Meeting Thursday 18th. October

****Loddon Quilters' second Show – Thursday 18th.April 2013****

We started our new year with a successful meeting and AGM. The minutes of the AGM
are on the website. The main business was setting up the show committee, thank you to all
the 'volunteers'. We shall having our first working lunch at our meeting this month. We were all
encouraged by the display of items already assembled – and that was only some of them! Keep
up the good work.

Diana introduced the house block which will be used to make the raffle quilt. Many
members took a background block of fabric to make a house. The finished block will be
12½"square (the background block is 15"square to allow some working space and placement) so
make sure you leave a good border for cutting to size. Please do NOT cut it to size; that will be
done by the assemblers. We would like the finished blocks by the December meeting at the
latest, please.

We will be collecting subscriptions again this month. Please take your cheques
(payable to Loddon Quilters) or cash to Jacky Morgan, our treasurer, during the meeting. If you
are unable to come to this meeting to pay your subscription please let us know if you want to
remain a member . We have some new members this year who have been waiting since the last
show and there are still others on the waiting list – we must be doing something right!

There are some useful suggestions in the Suggestions box! We need to decide on a
charity for our quilt show so any suggestions can go in the box. Keep them coming,
it's your group.

This month Janice will be doing a workshop for Christmas. Details have been sent out and
Janice is very good at making up packs for us to buy on the day. There will be some cardboard
templates available to borrow. Don't worry if you weren't at the last meeting you can still join in.

Secret Santa
This year the Secret Santa will be a door hanging. The committee showed ideas last month, but
as long as it can be hung on a door handle it can be any technique or design you fancy. The secret
Santas are wrapped and given out in a lucky dip at our December meeting.
For our new members – and a reminder for everyone else – our December meeting is a Christmas
celebration. Everyone brings a Christmas card, a secret santa gift, a raffle prize and a small plate
of Christmas food. In return, everyone goes home with a Christmas card, a gift and a raffle prize
– and full of Christmas food!

Defibrillator
We tracked down the defibrillator to the porch at the front of the hall. The committee have
viewed the video, we hope we never need to use it, but it could be a life saver.

We can now use the hall's dishwasher, so cups can be loaded into trays by the sink and can be
washed – in 3 minutes – when the tray is full. Hopefully we will have more use for this than the
defibrillator!

Fabric sources – let us know of good or poor service/stock you know of whether in person,

Stay Stitching – feedback on this shop is that at present it has very little stock, so not worth a
visit..
